Air Mauritius are once again flying from Sydney to Mauritius direct.
It has been a few years since Sydney siders have been able to enjoy direct flights to the holiday island of Mauritius. Spoilt for choice for many other destinations - the introduction of flights by Air Austral from Sydney to Reunion Island direct meant not only competition for the route ( Mauritius being a short hop from Reunion ) but competition for travellers.
Air Austral fly twice - soon to be three times a week from Sydney to Reunion Island. Their network extends into some amazing holiday destinations like Madagascar, the islands of Seychelles and the Comores and Mayotte - as well as flying onto South Africa.
The reintroduction of direct flights by Air Mauritius of course comes with specials - but more importantly - the entire area that is the Indian Ocean now has flights out of a major australian city every day of the week !!
Tour operators are reporting strong growth in interest and conversion to this area - despite the GFC. Hoteliers are still offering amazing rates ( Naiade Resorts in particular has up to 55% OFF their 5 star properties )
